Romek Legionnaires

Description

As the followers of Romulus multiplied in numbers, so did they grow in military strength. Under the guidance of the prophet, simple wasteland scavengers were transformed into formidable machines of war. While the pillaging heathens of the deserts wielded rusted machine guns and scarred rifles, the Romek Legionnaires forged their own expertly crafted weapons of a bygone age. Warriors who fall in battle do so with pride and joy, for their electronic souls are gathered and taken to the eternal digital paradise. With righteous swords and blessed shields, the Legionnaires charged into battle with unbridled fury…

Light Infantry Types:

Ancient Soldier

With finely-crafted armor and simple, versatile weapons, the ancient soldiers of the Romek Legions fought at close range and with great strength and speed. The Romeks feel pain just as a man, but it serves only to make them angrier and more aggressive. Paying no heed to casualties or wounds, the soldiers hacked, chopped, and smashed their way to victory until their enemies would rather kill themselves than face the blades of their mighty axes.

Ancient Zealot

Among the mekka ranks are legionnaires even more fanatic and aggressive than all the others. Their blind recklessness made them very poor fighters, but a solution was soon devised. Their bodies were equipped with swifter legs, adorned with holy garments and ornaments, and strapped with tanks of volatile napalm. After copious prayers, the prestigious Romek Zealots march to battle in front of all the other troops. With a cry of rage, the zealots charge into the enemy ranks and engulf them in a holy fire…

Modern Soldier

When the Romek Empire goes on the march once again, the Legions boast armored vehicles and warriors far superior to the common soldier. As such, the countless multitudes of soldiers cease to be the cornerstone of the imperial army, and serve only as expendable cannon fodder to be sacrificed on the front line. Still, the soldiers serve their purpose, and have been refitted with modernized equipment such as rifles, improved armor, and radio communication gear for scouting purposes. Rather than permitting the souls of fallen soldiers into paradise, the overseers simply recycle them again and again, keeping heaven always just beyond their reach.

Modern Zealot

While the ancient zealot was a proud and fear-inspiring warrior, the modern zealot is a constant target. Enemy snipers delight in shooting the vulnerable suicide troops while still near their own Romek comrades, and trenchline defenders will do everything in their power to destroy them before they can reach an adequate attack range. As such, the zealot is a paranoid, skittish unit that relies on stealth and deception to reach its target. They wield small firearms as a meager defense against attackers, and wear armor made to resemble a regular soldier’s. They often lay in wait beneath ruined structures for advancing enemies, then rush into their midst in a last-ditch attempt to destroy them.

Nice job on the Legionnaires. The Romek Empire is, so far, my favorite faction in Tranquillus. I hope to see more of them soon, possibly.
