The Mekka People

Description

While a portion of the human population adapted well to the bizarre environment of Tranquillus, many others were horrified to see their bodies break down over time, leading to constant injury and disfigurement. Some healed and replaced their body parts through organic means, using expensive medical technologies or enlisting the aid of flesh-crafters. However, the common people found such treatments too costly, and turned to the more practical alternative of mechanical prosthetics. Thus began the evolution of a new and unusual race. From fully organic humans to partially mechanical cyborgs to the entirely mechanical Mekka. Most people believe the Mekka are monstrous, soulless abominations who want only to consume and destroy... but as with most things, the truth is far more complex.

The earliest Mekka civilization were the scattered colonies of Junkmeks, who lived on the fringes of society in scrapyards or garbage dumps. While generally caring and kind, the simple Junkmeks are not trusted by other peoples, and often suffer persecution and are blamed for any problems the townspeople encounter. Eventually driven away from their beginnings, the junkmeks formed tribes and began to live beyond the edges of the old world civilization, toiling away amidst the most barren, most desolate regions of the wastelands where no other beings desire to live.

For the majority of Mekka, reality changed completely when a strange and curious android came to them with a message. This being was Romulus, later known as ‘the great prophet,’ ‘the great teacher.’ or simply, ‘He.’ The reasons for his greatness could fill endless volumes of data, but in essence, he is great because he liberated the Mekka race from the bonds of their misery, and proclaimed them the chosen people of Tranquillus. He founded the mighty Romek Legions, who would go on to build the great city of ROM – capital of the most powerful empire of Tranquillus, and perhaps, of all recorded history. Glorious centuries have passed since that day, and the might of the Romek Empire feared by all, and challenged only by the dead.

Love the Armor and creature development. The armor in particular on the left one's legs grab me, very good mix of old scale/plate with kind of a cybernetic look.
